About GWO and Basic Safety Training

The Global Wind Organization (GWO) is an international organization created in 2009 by the leading companies in the Wind Energy sector, either activated as owners or manufacturers. The common standard called Basic Safety Training (BST) came out as a result of the collaboration between GWO members. BST was the answer to the need for ensuring a common and reliable basic training for wind energy sector employees, worldwide.

GEP S.A. is certified as an official GWO BST Provider

First Aid

The aim of this program is to train employees in providing safe and effective First Aid services, through theoretical and proctical courses. The First Aid training focuses on the conditions found in wind turbines' environment starting from the entrance and ending to the exit from them. The modules "First Aid to Save Lives" and "Everyday First Aid" provide to all participants the skills for tracing and treating exceptional circumnstances and threatening for life situations. GEP First Aid Training Instructors are certified by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), and they are active members of the Council. The First Aid training lasts two days and it is developed both theoretically and practically. The certification received following to a successful participation is valid for two years.

Fire Awareness

The aim of the training program on the session of Fire Awareness is to equip participants with the necessary basic theoritical and practical knowledge in order to prevent fires in their workplace. Employees are developing their ability to recognize any indication of fire and to deal with any unexpected events in the environment of the wind turbine. They get informed about the proper handling of the available fire fighting means as well. Under emergency conditions, participants gain the "real feeling" through smoke simoulation conditions; aiming to the best possible actions while having emergency evacuation procedures situation. Fire Awareness training lasts one day and it is developed both theoretically and practically. The certification received following a successful participation is valid for two years.

Manual Handling of Loads

The aim of the training program on the session of Manual Handling of Loads is to provide to the participants all the necessary theoretical knowledge as well as practical training in order to be able to understand, explain and recognize how the musculoskeletal system can be used correctly reducing the risk of injury when transporting loads; especially in places such as a wind turbine, nacelle, and storage-houses. During training the participants are invited to implement practical exercises on safe methods of manual handling, which are occurred as simulation "scenarios", so after that they will be able to successfully apply them on their normal daily work activity. The training on Manual Handling of Loads lasts one day and it is developed both theoretically and practically. The certification received following a successful participation is valid for two years.
